Karakter Disney diperkenalkan versi CGI mereka pada tahun 2003 dan pada tahun 2004.
Produksi kartun ini dihentikan sementara selama empat bulan di musim semi tahun 2009, karena kematian Wayne Allwine, pengisi suara jangka panjang Miki Tikus. Bret Iwan akan menjadi pengisi suara Mickey Mouse untuk episode baru yang akan datang.

Menurut kartun Donald Gets Drafted (1942), nama lengkap Donal Bebek adalah Donal Fauntleroy Bebek (nama tengahnya merupakan referensi untuk topi pelautnya yang merupakan aksesoris untuk baju Fauntleroy). Situs Disney juga menyatakan bahwa namanya adalah Donal Fauntleroy Bebek dan sebuah episode dalam film Quack Pack juga menyatakan hal yang sama.
Asal Usul Tokoh Kartun Minnie Mouse
Komik strip "Mr. Slicker and the Egg Robbers" (dipublikasikan pada 22 September - 26 December 1930) memperkenalkan ayah Minnie Mouse,Marcus Tikus dan ibunya yang anonim yang bekerja sebagai petani. Pada cerita yang sama, diperkenalkan kakek dan nenek Mini Tikus, yaitu Marshall Tikus dan Matilda Tikus.Dari semua saudaranya, Mini Tikus berhubungan erat dengan pamannya, Mortimer Tikus dan kedua keponakannya, Millie Tikus dan Melody Tikus, Dalam banyak cerita, Mini bersahabat sangat akrab dengan Daisy Duck, dan dengan Klarabela.

Karakter Miki Tikus menjadi sebuah simbol bagi Amerika terutama dalam penyebaran budaya AS ke berbagai belahan dunia dan menjadi lambang keceriaan. Miki menjadi simbol The Walt Disney Company dan diri Walt Disney sendiri seperti diutarakan oleh istri Walt, Lillian. Miki dan Walt berkembang bersama dan menjadi cermin kepribadian mereka. Presiden AS Jimmy Carter pernah mengatakan "Mickey Mouse is the symbol of goodwill, surpassing all languages and cultures. When one sees Mickey Mouse, they see happiness." Mickey Mouse Works
Miki Tikus, Mini Tikus, Donal Bebek, Desi Bebek, Gufi, Pluto dan Profesor Otto membintangi segmennya sendiri. Karel Kuda, Klarabela, Kwik, Kwek dan Kwak, Kiki dan Koko, Gober Bebek, Boris, Humphrey si Beruang, J. Audobon Woodlore, Dinah si Dachshund, Butch si Bulldog, Mortimer dan Clara Cluck muncul sebagai karakter pembantu. Kini episode kartun ini di Indonesia ditampilkan di acara Disney Club di TPI.
Dasar pikiran
Mickey Mouse Works dibuat untuk mengulang kembali era kejayaan kartun pendek Disney, pada film ini terdapat banyak karakter Disney yang populer. Dengan menggunakan warna awal dan efek suara original, film ini terlihat seperti film Disney klasik.Setiap setengah jam terdapat berbagai macam kartun, dari kartun yang panjangnya 90 detik sampai 12 menit.
Berbagai macam kartun yang sangat pendek, yang berdurasi 90 detik, berjudul sebagai berikut:
- Mickey to the Rescue: Miki Tikus berusaha menyelamatkan Mini dari Boris.
- Maestro Minnie: Mini menjadi konduktor pada suatu orkestra.
- Goofy's Extreme Sports: Gufi menunjukan aksi berbahayanya dalam olahraga.
- Donald's Dynamite: Aktivitas Donal dan sebuah dinamit.
- Von Drake's House of Genius: Professor Otto menunjukan penemuannya.
- Pluto Gets the Paper: Pluto melewati masalah untuk mengambil koran untuk Miki.
Meski kartun-kartun ini terpisah, tapi Donal, Miki Dan Gufi juga menjalani usaha jasa dalam beberapa kartun. Kebanyakan komedi dari Gufi berupa segmen "how-to" (Cara untuk mengerjakan hal), yang selalu disertai oleh seorang narator.
Produksi dan penayangan ulang
Setelah acara ini diganti oleh Disney's House of Mouse pada Januari 2001, banyak episode dari Mouse Works dimasukkan ke acara itu, tapi film ini tidak pernah terlihat lagi. Namun, film ini masih ada pada stasiun Disney Channel. Selain itu, ketika episodenya ditampilkan di Big Movie Show di Toon Disney, terdapat juga kredit akhir dari film tersebut.Di Eropa, film ini dikeluarkan dalam format DVD dengan nama Mickey's Laugh Factory. Beberapa memiliki latar belakang telop Mickey Mouse Works, namun yang lain memiliki versi telop House of Mouse. Beberapa diantaranya ialah Hickory Dickory Mickey, Mickey Tries to Cook, Organ Donors, Mickey's Airplane Kit, Street Cleaner, Mickey's New Car, Bubble Gum, Mickey's Big Break dan Mickey's Mix-Up.
Pada tanggal 11 November 2008, gelombang kedelapan Walt Disney Treasures dikeluarkan. Salah satunya, yakni The Chronological Donald, Volume Four, menampilkan beberapa episode khas Donal dari Mickey Mouse Works dan House of Mouse sebagai bonus, yakni Bird Brained Donald, Donald and the Big Nut, Donald's Charmed Date, Donald's Dinner Date, Donald's Failed Fourth, Donald's Rocket Ruckus, Donald's Shell Shots, Donald's Valentine Dollar, Music Store Donald dan Survival of the Woodchucks.
